Peter, I seem to remember that the data size is ~ 60 Meg. Is that right?

That may be just acceptable for this 4.5osgeo release on the DVD.
However, it is too large to put into svn.

What I suggest is that you move the data out of subversion and store in another location. Hamish had suggestions a few emails back about this. This will address some concerns about subversion size.

We will then see how much space is being used when a full virtual machine is built. (We are probably a few weeks off before getting the full install process working end to end).

I expect that we will need to revisit the example data size for the 5.0 release as we will need to save more space.

adapting to unknown data set unfortunately is beyond our resources now, I'm sorry for that. We would prefer relying on EarthLook for hosting the demo cases then (that is: doing the same demo, but referencing from the Live demo to our site). So if you tell us a size limit we will shift out all exceeding stuff, that's simplest for us.

Peter,
I don't have an answer for you yet, but as suggested on chat by a couple of people, we should determine if rasderman can share data examples with ossim and otb. Could you please have a look at the two install scripts and see what data they install, and see if you can use it.

sorry, that it's still too big - we already have stripped down the demo substantially, from several GB to this size.
What is the size limit you have in mind?

cheers,
Peter

Michael, Peter,
Do you have an alternative location on the web to store rasdaman data?
Maybe your download server?

A little to big and binary to keep in svn. I can't remember if we came up with a standard place to keep stuff like this, does anyone else? Was
it on the download server?

For future reference to all contributors, do not put binary files in the svn with the primary exception being appropriately sized images in the
docs (that's 1024x768, 150dpi max).

Thanks,
Alex
