the software is buggy & we need whatever disk space we can find for other
things -- if we're not using it it may as well go. as soon as someone
makes a new user in their VM or install they'll get stung with it again if
it is not removed.
I've added the removal to setup.sh now, but commented it out until it is
tested to be sure it doesn't want to remove the entire xubuntu desktop
with it.
