At the moment, I understand that GeoServer is installed multiple times

This is something that we'd like to clean up, as:
1. Multiple installations uses up valuable space
2. Multiple versions of installations potentially confuses users
testing OSGeo-Live.
We are hoping to address this in OSGeo-Live 7.0, probably using debian
packages for each application. Note that Jerome Larouche, CCed is a
Google Summer of Code student tasked with sorting out debian packaging
for OSGeo applications, and hence now is an opportune time to work
with him to applications packaged into .deb files.
Hi Cameron,
Only GeoNetwork has an internal GeoServer installation.
MapProxy, Sahana and Cartaro all use the stock GeoServer.
I talked to the GeoNetwork devs and it seems that they already have this
issue solved for their 2.10 release.
Lets hope it gets here on time.
Cheers,
Angelos
