For some reason I cannot locate a xulrunner available for ubuntu trusty...

Okay - good test!

So is there an XULrunner that will work with your distribution?

I will also perform a quick check here to ensue the website that page is trying
to load is available.

If not I will make a 1.4.1 pointing at a github page or perhaps we could make a
OsGeo live documentation page with good OGC Web services to use for demos?

Hi,

In 8.0 alpha4 when I select the "Web" tab, nothing happens...

That seems likely, so we have two good ways to test.

Any confirmation from the live-demo team if that functionality is still
available based on firefox being installed?

Based on previous message the test to confirm if XULRunner was needed
(or if
it was able to pick up your firefox install?) is to open uDig and switch
to
the "web" tab and see if the embedded browser pops up.
Yes the web view is the point in all this. Which means, if I am not
mistaken, that also WMS info results might be broken?

Hi Jody,

The xulrunner package was in the installation script, I have no idea why
it was there.
If it is not needed, we can remove it (already commented it out)

As for the dpkg (Debian package management tool), it was blocked because
the above package was broken.

Bottom line: The installer seems to be working fine now, I am building a
new iso and will ask you to test when available.

Best,
Angelos

I do not know what xulrunner or dpgk is?

Given that you have not changed the version of uDig used I think we
need
more information on what has changed in the execution environment.

Hi all,

The problem currently is that xulrunner is breaking dpgk and freezes
apt.
I have disabled it as well as the geopublishing ppa which apparently
has
expired.

Please take a look if this can be fixed upstream.

Thanks,
Angelos

Hi Andrea and Jody,
It seems that we have a critical issue installing Udig on OSGeo-Live.
I wonder if you could help us look into it.

xulrunner installation breaks dpkg (udig installer)
