hi Hrvoje -

this comes up with some regularity.. basically, torrents work well
when there are many simultaneous downloads.
The frequency and volume of OSGeo-Live downloads is not a good fit to
the Torrent model..

      Hi Hrvoje,
With your permission from IRC, I'm forwarding your email to the
OSGeo-Live list.
There are others on the list who should be able to answer this question
better than I.

Warm regards, Cameron

Hi Cameron

I visited IRC channel few times and talked about this, and was
pointed to the list.

I'm new to this list and didn't want to barge in, but I don't like
sourceforge and wanted to see if there is something I could help with.

I was wondering how large is entire OSGeo-live repository, and what
is average monthly bandwidth usage.

Also many Linux distributions have .torrent files as an additional
way to download large files, this could also be done with OSGeo-live.

There was some talk about wanting to know how many times each file
was downloaded, which is nice, but there should also be another way
of downloading, not just sourceforge.

If you wish you can share this email.

Regards,
Hrvoje Bogner

Hi Hrvoje,
That is a generous offer.

Would you mind if I share this email with our OSGeo-Live list? There are
others more qualified to answer than I on the list.

Warm regards, Cameron

Hi Cameron

I was wondering about distributing OSGeo-live images. I have few
hundreds of GB free on our servers and could mirror OSGeo-live.
Also I was wondering about creation of .torrent files for those larger
files where I could also help.
