Los Angeles Times | March 12, 2009 | 8:22 a.m. --- Judge revokes Madoff's bail, financier going to jail - Bernard Madoff was taken into custody today after pleading guilty to 11 felony charges stemming from a scheme that bilked investors out of tens of billions of dollars. - A chastened Madoff told a packed courtroom that he was deeply sorry for the Ponzi scheme that he said began in the 1990s during an economic downturn.
