I would suggest just using flickr (it is seriously, pretty damn
great) and tagging the photos with a tag like "liveaboardlist" or
something. It would be easy enough to post the link into the footer
of the emails for the liveaboard list by modifying the mailman list
(I'm assuming we're using mailman for the list... =] ). Hell, we
could even link to an rss feed for the all new photos with the
"liveaboardlist" tag which people could subscribe to so they see all
the new photos that come in, as they come in.

Simple, easy and no fuss...

For instance, here's me on mine in Paris (sans liveaboard tags) from
a few years ago... (sadly I'm on the hard these days in London) :
http://www.flickr.com/photos/awws/sets/1724023/

just an idea... quite simple to do. We use the same technique for
tracking decentralized uptake on protests and actions we are working
on with the NGO I work with.

Failing that, you might want to think about running a Drupal install
if you want to build those sorts of community spaces). The Flickr tag
though is *way* easier... =]

ciao !
Daryl.
PS> The key issue will be picking a service everyone is happy with
particularly now Flickr's success is being emulated by other services
from yahoo etc... anywho...
