We have a number of publications that cover this area, including but not
limited to Skipper Bob, Ports Book, and the Waterway Guide. If the
limited opening of the Little Current bridge is mentioned at all they
state that " It opens on the hour for 15 minutes."
Even the sign on the bridge states this. Unfortunately IT AINT SO. Period.
This bridge opens for ONE MINUTE ONLY.
The 15 minutes starts when the vehicle barricades STARTS DOWN. The
bridge takes 7 minutes to swing open and 7 minutes to close. As they
say, do the math. I confirmed this with several sources including the
bridge tender and Roy who runs the LITTLE CURRENT CRUISERS NET.
Bottom line is you must be AT THE BRIDGE AND IN POSITION TO TRANSIT on
the hour NOT within 15 minutes of the hour.
Do not expect an exception to this rule.

While you are in this area be certain to tune in to the LITTLE CURRENT
CRUISERS NET at 9 am sharp on channel 71 everyday during July and
August. An announcement is made on Ch 16 2 min. before 9 am. You get the
latest weather, news, local and international and then cruisers check in
and are given the opportunity to get assistance, give it, and make
contact with other cruisers. Roy does a hangup job on this project and
is to be thanked profusely for his effort.
