Glad you enjoyed the buns, Ed! We found them addictive which was a problem
since, like potato chips, it's almost impossible to have two!

Enjoy Maine and we'll see you in a few (or more) weeks in O.B.!

    Hi All,
We wanted to share our good fortune and good weather sailing
today from the Newport, RI area up to the South Entry of the
Cape Cod Canal, which we hope to transit tomorrow...
Tonight we are anchored in Wings Cove, just down the river from
    Wareham, Mass.

Sue and I soaked up our share of fun at Block Island, anchoring
in the Great Salt Pond. Its clean - you can see your anchor.
Its not that far to town or across the beach road to the West to
get to one of the nicer ocean beaches for a swim in the
Atlantic. On labor day they reportedly get up to 2000 boats
on the pond, both anchored, at moorings or at there three marinas.

Yesterday we sailed to Dutch Harbor in Narragansett Bay, on the back
side of the island just across from Newport, RI. We went into
Jamestown, RI yesterday from Block Island as I needed to get to a
Bank of America to wire funds to England pay for a used Wildcat/Gypsy
for my SL SeaTiger 555 windlass. Our boat came with 100 feet of
3/8ths BBB stainless chain and a nice DELTA fast Set anchor - but
we kept anchor and chain from our prior boat and it needs a bigger
Wildcat on the windlass (my old anchor is a 66 LB SPADE, backed
up with 182 feet of 3/8th inch chain - System 7). Steve Weinstein
told us about the best Goey Cinnamon rolls in Jamestown - at a
bakery known as SLICE OF HEAVEN. Highly recommended.
Jamestown also is a cheap ferry ride into Newport.

Our only complaint is that although we found a spot to anchor on
the other side of Jamestown, it seems every town is trying to
monopolize all their space with mooring fields. They were
charging $55 a night for a mooring at the Jamestown Harbormaster.
We simply found a large area in the middle of the mooring field
where we could anchor and still swing without getting near their
moorings and anchored with two anchors there.

We are currently moving North for two weeks with a goal of
getting up to the Maine border by a week from Friday -
but we will stop at Plymouth and Gloucester on the way up
the coast. (I know .. I know... do not keep to a schedule but
thats the way its working out.)

We will plan to do Nantucket on the way back South, and also
will go to Oyter Bay to see this lists old stalwart, Steve Weinstein.

    Fair winds to all.
