As far as chaffing goes, a well designed anchor 
roller really helps a tremendous amount, and 
cleating to cleats at the deck edge rather than 
inboard where the line goes through chocks and 
'saws' back and forth as the line stretches is a 
big deal too.

I have my manual windless located so that the 
lines can be switched and managed under load fast, 
that helps also.-Ken
