Jim,

Vero Beach charges $11.88 per boater for a daily mooring.
You each pay the same charge even if 2 or 3 are there.

They assign boats to particular moorings based on type of boat,
size and weight... They tell you who is on a mooring when you
go in to raft up to help you spot the boat. If you are traveling
together they will honor requests to put boats together.

Its nicer than I looked forward to, and we almost did not
stop. I guess folks don't call it "VELCRO BEACH" for nothing.

The moorings at Velcro Beach are run by their city
marina. There are 57 of them.

We called their office for a reservation at 772-231-2819
before getting in here to reserve a spot, but I don't know
if they require that. When you are near they use Channel
16 and 66 on the VHF.

They advise to put out your fenders on the side of your boat
and to plan on fore and aft springs. Each boat should also
tie to the mooring.

We also like the Free Bus service all over town and the friendly
community atmosphere among the cruisers here. Its
definitely a very fun place to be and sounds like they all
get together for Thanksgiving meal too.

Does that mean moorings are $11 or is it $11 per boat? How do you
select a boat to raft to? Was this planned?

Thanks,
Jim.
