Hi 'bella and list,
Having fiberglassed the inside of our fridge as we built it, I have an
appreciation for what you face.
Essentially, if you epoxy vs poly, you're doing a barrier coat.
Whether you'll need or want any substantial structural improvement
will determine whether you want to glass.
That said, it's all a matter of access. The size of the hole will
determine how difficult it will be. The mechanics are pretty simple
(this from a guy who had to replace, in a pretty large area, as much
as an inch of lamination after our wreck).
Mechanically, of course, you'll want to have the tank absolutely
empty, flushed and flushed again. Boom is not just an economic term
:{))
Once you're secure in that feeling, an angle grinder, gently applied,
to knock off all the contaminated stuff and rough up the surface.
About 60 grit. May have to hand sand the corners.
Then, depending on how big it is, and how much glass you want to use,
and how smooth a surface you want, sheets which will fit the panels
you're doing, with overlaps at the seams, fully wet out, applied with
disked rollers. Really fine cloth (forget the name) for finishing,
thinned epoxy if you want a smooth final coat with just epoxy on a
foam roller for the last couple of coats, or switch to penetrating
epoxy (thinner consistency than layup epoxy).
Lots of ventilation, nitrile gloves and vapor mask and full hoodie
suit with goggles, and it's pretty simple once you've done a layer or
so...

eptitude to choose such putably pensible tithesis, which we parage.
