Since we are talking about world events and stuff...boating related since US Airways landed in the water and the Iridium collision could drop debris in the ocean (I know, a big stretch to tie to liveaboards but interesting nonetheless).
My wife works for Analytical Graphics, a 3D modeling company that does a lot of work with NASA, aircraft companies, and others requiring space based simulations in 3D. AGI just created a couple of scenarios in STK (Satellite ToolKit) that show the US Airways crash and the IRIDIUM collision. They are pretty interesting so I wanted to send out the links in case any of you are interested in checking it out. Here is a link to a video showing the Hudson River US Airways crash modeled in STK using a combination of simulated and Passur data: http://www.passur.com/flash/Hudson_River_Landing_Simulation.html Also, here is the link to showing what we have done to model the IRIDIUM-COSMOS collision: http://www.agi.com/corporate/mediaCenter/news/iridium-cosmos/ -- **************************** Sam Densler mailto:[email protected] http://www.islandfx.com/lady S/V Lady of the Lake PDQ 36, Hull #15 Melbourne, FL S/V Stories She Could Tell Endeavour 37, Hull #454 Destroyed by Hurricane Frances 2004 Reborn and sailing again in 2007 **************************** "If you ever wonder why you ride the carousel, you do it for the stories you can tell."
