Speaking of Edison and cats ... Henry Ford and Thomas Edison were good friends, and he was a frequent visitor at the Henry Ford Estate in Dearborn, Michigan. He had a permanent guest room there, and as a joke at the expense of his old friend, Ford had it decorated in a cat motif, with cabinet handles and drawer pulls made to look like cats, among other things. It remains that way to this day. The tour guide who took us through the room recently said Edison had a "pathological hatred of cats."
