I think if your boat is well found, normal wave heights and winds are
not a hazard. What will be more of a consideration for ANY size boat is
water, supplies, communication, typhoon season, wind direction relative
to time of year, and ocean currents. These things such as winds and ect
can be factored in very effectivly and quickly by a program such as
Visual Passage Planner, which takes into account your boats speed and
sailing ability. Do you have that program?

BTW if you want to be able to steer *reliably* get a wind vane. Much
more reliable than any other type auto pilot.-Ken
