The theory behind this thing (magnetic field manipulation of a metal that has a negative magnetocaloric effect) sounds reasonable - there's a number of materials that have magnetocaloric effects. However, for almost five years now, these guys have been making lots of noise - plenty of press about the wonderful enviro effects, great promises of huge energy savings, etc. - but there still seems to be no working prototype, at least not that I could find with a quick Google search. I hope it happens one day. Meanwhile, I'm sticking with my Twinbird/Coleman fridge; it works really well with minimal power consumption - and uses CO2 instead of the standard refrigerants. http://www.appliancedesign.com/Articles/Feature_Article/BNP_GUID_9-5-2006_A_10000000000000297268 -- * Ben Okopnik * Editor-in-Chief, Linux Gazette * http://LinuxGazette.NET * _______________________________________________ Liveaboard mailing list [email protected] To adjust your membership settings over the web http://www.liveaboardnow.org/mailman/listinfo/liveaboard To subscribe send an email to [email protected] To unsubscribe send an email to [email protected] The archives are at http://www.liveaboardnow.org/pipermail/liveaboard/ To search the archives http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected] The Mailman Users Guide can be found here http://www.gnu.org/software/mailman/mailman-member/index.html
