Jan and I used to winter there (and pump thousands of dollars into the
local economy, including annual haulout) but since 2006 we have stopped
visiting St Augustine altogether.  One of the local bosses actually
referred to boaters as "water rats".

The politicians there have made it so unattractive with their ridiculous
dinghy dock fees, the horrid parking problem (normally we would have to
walk 1/2 to 1 mile to find a parking place, and if you don't move your car
every three days they declare it to be abandoned and hold it for ransom
[$235]), and their general anti-cruiser attitude.
