The folks on the southern end tend to have trucked from CA to TX east coast. You could take your boat south and go to work for Homeland Security down there ....perhaps..... live on the boat and work. Last I heard those jobs were running about $42 an hr but you know they are filled considering the condition of CA.
Where do Brownsville sailors go in 4 months time? North to get cooler and not live on a bathtub. Humidity is horrendous. Where you are is just the bathtub... :>) Carl
