Is the ppc bootcd any use but as just a boot cd? Is libxml2 and nALFS on there so that I could through the packages on and start an install?

The 6.0 one only has tools enough for you to manually install LFS. But the one I'm currently working on (which I'll release a pre-version of very soon) will have more.
