can anybody help me with this, pls ?
Your problem is that you try to mix-and-match software and book
versions. This doesn't work.
Non-UTF-8 book uses groff-1.19.2, and that's the version you should use
if you follow that book.
The UTF-8 book (http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/~alexander/lfs-book/)
uses groff-1.18.1.1 with the Debian patch. The primary reason for
inclusion of this patch is the support for Japanese, but this patch also
fixes that double-fclose bug in groff.
I didn't say there was a problem with unstable glibc - I said something
in your build was making glibc unusable with groff. I suggested he speak
to someone more familier with the UTF system to see how and if that
changes anything with glibc or groff.
