the packages included in the full version are not yet updated to match the book, specifically, the kernel is 2.6.22.2 and the book is using 2.6.22.5 every other error was my hardware not reading the cd correctly. There is a problem with full hibernation on my dell inspiron 3000. the system hibernates just fine, with closing the notebook, it just will not come back from it, requiring a hard power off to do anything. [ with bios power management set to maximum performance ] bios being pheonix notebios v4. [ it is fully updated with dell bios updates ( 1 ) ] Dell uses an odd [ proprietary ] partition / filesystem for bios enabled suspend to disk, this partition is not compatible with linux suspend scripts and technologies, so I set the bios to use a suspend to ram option. [ at least this old system does. ] cfdisk and fdisk identify this partion as an ibm partition, but will not create a compatible partition and filesystem, I had this issue with an inspiron 3200 as well and tested it exhaustively to test suspend to disk functionality. with a 1 GB swap partition, this notebook was able to bootstrap gcc finally. it only took 7 hours this evening.
