I'll probably decide closer to September - based on the progress of no.2 - if that's OK. If the irrigation system is ready - it would probably be better to get the demo out of the way in September - so that I can install it sooner in place.

Both talks sound very interesting to me. I'd be happy to hear about
either. If you have a preference of which one you'd like to do we can
always schedule the other for a future month :-)

Now that we've been gently and repeatedly egged on by certain members of
the group (don't worry Dan, I won't mention your name :-) ) to come up
with presentations/demos for LUG meets, I have two suggestions. I'd like
to know if there is any interest - as they are not strictly Linux stuff:

    1. Design electronic circuits on veroboard/stripboard using Fritzing.

Fritzing is an open-source software (available for Linux, OSX and the
Other OS(tm)) for designing electronic circuits. It contains a library
of electronic components, and it can design schematic circuits, PCB
boards, breadboards and stripboard/veroboard circuits. I only just
delved into it because of my work on the micro-irrigation system - but
it is a very user-friendly and low-entry way to design and mess about
with the layout of electronic circuits - before actually implementing
them. Suitable for Arduino or any other
    electronic projects. Avoids lots
of solder/unsolder cycles - it turns out that "Undo" in software is
faster than in real life :-)

    2. As some of you already know, I've been working on an automatic
micro-irrigation system based on Arduino. I am in the testing phase -
and if there is any interest, I could bring it along and demo it before
I install it in its permanent position.

I am pretty much ready with number 1, but number 2 depends on a few
parts which are still to arrive and on me having enough time to fit them
    before the September meet.

    Any thoughts?
