Right, I have a radical suggestion. Since some people don't want to eat

Shipping Forecast from about 7pm?

You can eat there or just hang out and be merry if you want. It's a nice
place. If we get there at 7pm it'll be quiet and we can take over a
corner. I'll also inquire about booking a large table but I'm not sure
they do that.

Is the 4th still the favourite date for people?

Sound like a plan?

A quick yes or no is enough. Also saves all the problems of
co-ordinating lists of names etc. Open door policy.
Well - somebody has to be the odd one out - and as nobody else is volunteering, I'll be the one :-)

Shipping Forecast is not exactly quiet - definitely much louder than Red Hot I would think. Also, in terms of food value for money, Red Hot is much better for a Christmas meal. Hard to make a proper meal out of the Shipping Forecast menu, I'd say. On top of that, if we go to the same venue we always go to, will it really feel like a Christmas meal/occasion, or the usual after-meeting drinks?

On the other hand, I'll go with the majority vote one way or another.
