You can already do this:

Preferences -> GUI -> startup interface

New users get this choice when they install as well.

What do you mean by "sections" ?

In multitrack, you can hide the banner just by clicking on Expanded View.

You mean like Info -> Show messages ?

I guess there could be an option to not show the info messages at the
bottom, but personally I don't find it annoying, and in multitrack, you
can always grab the divider and shrink it anyway.

Maybe, but there is really a lack of developer time to implement this.

We have now 3 new LiVES developers, who I will be intoducing shortly.

Alex K who is working on Preferences enhancements,
Alex P who is working on various text overlays,
and Surya who will be working first on mouse control and painting-on-frames.

For my part, after the next release (1.3.3) I will have little time for
LiVES for the next few months, as I have a GSOC project to work on, and I
will be spending 2 - 3 days a week giving a course on analogue synths.
Gotta pay the bills somehow ;-)

Cheers,
Gabriel.
