Hmmm...thinking...there was a problem with multi_encoder3.py. Try deleting this from /usr/lib(64)/lives/plugins/encoders, just in case it is not getting blacklisted properly.
If that does not work, try deleting your ~/.lives file and ~/.lives-dir to force a clean install.
