this suggests just making a link because it seems ld is confused about where 
the library is, seems they moved some core things around. however it also 
appears you are running ubuntu 13.10, i would highly suggest updating to 
14.04, many things work better for me overall and specifically v4l2 was a 
huge improvement, at least for me.
