Hello,
it seems that we already have a number of subscribers to the
Lizard mailinglist, so it is really time for a welcome
message.
First of all, who am I? My name is Matthias, I am a software
engineer working for Caldera at the offices in Erlangen,
Germany. While the Lizard was developed by TrollTech in
Norway, I was responsible for integrating this tool with
OpenLinux. At the moment, I am the Lizard maintainer and will
keep this job after the Lizard is opensourced.
Now to more interesting things: We are currently setting up
the CVS repository for the Lizard source code on
openlinux.org. The source code will be available for download
on friday, the 3rd of September.
The repository will contain our latest development version, as
well as the stable versions we have shipped in the past. I
will also integrate all contributions from interested parties
who want to take part in this project.
Unfortunately, our office is going to move to a new location
on Thursday, the 2nd, so it might be that I am a bit hard to
reach during the next days, so please have patience if you
have urgent questions.
What is the current state of the project? After finishing the
version used in COL 2.3, we started to restructure the lizard
code for the open sourcing, to make the code easier to
customize and extend. This restructuring is about 2/3
finished, and I hope to finish it completely next week.
Despite the code, we are currently preparing the web site,
adding instructions for developers on how to build the lizard,
how to try it out, and things you should not do with a tool
intented to format your hard disk and install a new operating
system :-)
Ok, that was quite long for a simple "Hello!", so:
See you,
Matthias Hoelzer-Kluepfel.
