now I see your point: you assume that reason for using the QPL
is that Qt is licensed under the QPL.

That is not true. When we decided to opensource the Lizard, we
had a look at a number of opensource licenses. We wanted to
use an existing license instead of inventing yet another one,
and the QPL was the one that expressed our intentions the
best, so the toolkit was not an argument.
