All,
I think we should meet to discuss final release for the LTK libraries.
We saw a flurry of bugs come in for the libraries after beta, but that
seems to be settling down, and with the exception of JavaLTK (which is
just at alpha), we should discuss any open issues, feature requests, and
bugs before a final release.
Comments? Should we use this e-mail thread to discuss? Should we
arrange a teleconference (I've got an 800 number to save cost)?
My Comments:
Testing: Testing has been ad-hoc across libraries, with a lot of testing
coming from usage by various companies etc. We could be doing a much
better job testing, but we've had a long beta period with a reasonable
number of issues. I'm comfortable producing a final release (except
perhaps Java). What do others think?
Documentation: We've got a decent Wiki (decent in that it contains the
relevant information). It could be tons better, and we could provide the
same info in a downloadable format. This seems like a "must do" for a
final release.
Vendor Extension: We've got a vendor extension test file. It's probably
too high a hurdle. I'd love to see better samples of how extension plug
into the LTKs.
Packages - long ago we had discussion about packages (attached below).
Our latest releases include:
LTK<lang>_<src|lib-platform>_maj_min_maint.<tgz|zip>
So far no complaints, but now would be the time to make any
changes to the names or contents of releases.
