It's just that C is the most common key used for pianos and keyboards (a 
few keyboards used B, but still the majority is C).

Isn't the key saved in the project file?  Meaning that if a project is 
loaded that uses A4 (or whatever else the user has chosen!), LMMS won't 
change that even if the default for new projects is C4?

Anyway, I posted this not because I feel strongly about it; after all, I 
can still pick what I like.  A default is just a default :)  I was just 
curious about the reasons A was chosen, especially since the user has to 
change it to C if he/she wants to be compatible with other instruments 
(to jam with someone who's playing a tune in C major for example, I 
can't use LMMS default pick; his C major is not my C major in my 
keyboard that drives LMMS), so C looks the more reasonable default 
choice.  But again, it can be changed.  It's a bit of a burden to do 
this every time though you insert a new instrument.  Perhaps a new 
configuration option would be a good idea?
