So, news update about the new synth -
1. this is where I'm at now:
As you can see, the interface is very efficiently utilized to provide
the optimal amount of cool stuff.
The A/B mix knob has acquired a simple AHD envelope. All of the envelope
knobs are temposyncable, so you can eg. set the attack to exactly a
quarternote. They have a range of 0-2 seconds which should be enough for
most things, but if it isn't it can be extended.
There's the X or "Crosstalk" knob. What it does is sends the output of
A1 to B2, so that you can create a longer modulation chain if needed -
A2->A1->B2->B1.
And you can load waveforms from sample files now.
2 - I've been thinking about the name question.
I first thought about calling it "Ronin". A ronin is a masterless
samurai, but the literal meaning of the word is "wave man", or slightly
less literally, "one adrift on the waves".
It'd be a cool as heck name, and thematically appropriate (the whole
wave thing), but then it doesn't really describe the instrument very
well. And only makes sense if you know the etymology.
Continuing with the Japanese theme, I also thought about calling it
"Tsunami". But, since Fukushima is still relatively fresh in memory, I
thought that might be considered bad taste by some.
So I got other ideas: "Warper". Which again sounds cool, and it fits
becase it... starts with the same letter as wave? And kind-of sort-of
describes what the synth does?
Maybe a bit far-fetched though.
So then I started thinking about other names that start with "Wa"... and
I got several ideas:
Watson
Wankel
Wasabi
Wallace
Waldo
Warsaw
Wasp
Watt
... in any case, I'll try to decide on something soon, so I can get this
thing moving towards the main branch.
