I have used MIDI software for decades now and there is a unique feature I found in only one of them (Winjammer to name it): track splitting and merging There were two different functionalities under the split. 1- Split at note: Given a track, it could be split it in two at a limit note you choose. Very handy when a track covers a large range and you want to split it in two separate instruments for a better rendering. For example between an alto sax for the treble and a tenor sax for the lower range. 2- Split by note: The track is split in as many tracks as there are different notes. This is a great feature for drum tracks when you want to change one or more percussion instrument but keep others as they are. The merge tracks feature lets you select a track and merge it into an existing one. A cool feature once you've used 2- above: you can merge back the drum tracks into one when you're done with you changes.
