This is the major decision I'm referring to. If we just want a business
card site, then fine, let's buy a "professional" domain and place our
"official" links in there and call it a day.
But what I see happening under the covers along side the development
community is a rich community of artists that want to make music. Facebook
and Soundcloud promote that. The LSP promotes that. So many people want a
domain name that they still aren't stopping to ask what we want a website
for, which is why I find Toby's questions to be more relevant when he asks
"What is wrong with sourceforge?".
If we can't answer that then buying a new domain fixes nothing. If we want
a CMS with LSP and even start talking about social network and openid
integration, then we're in the business of sharing music. A tool we
recommend for making it just so happens to be made by the same team that
manages the sharing platform.
This is why we picked "facebook.com/makefreemusic". It promotes freedom.
To that point, shareing on the LSP DOES imply it's free (in at least some
CC license, right?) Why else would you share a project?
