No problems here either on 9.10, LMMS works ok. I think many people have this issue because they did not set PulseAudio as the Audio Interface or don't use JACK. Another option is to disable PulseAudio before starting LMMS with ALSA as the Audio Interface. This can be done with the help of the pasuspender command, the correct command would be 'pasuspender -- lmms' Unfortunately the default device for ALSA is set on 'Default', you have to change that first to the device name of your soundcard. For my onboard card the device name is 'Intel' so the ALSA device name I've entered is 'hw:Intel'. Maybe it's an idea to create a wrapper script like the one for QjackCtl. Just a thought.
