Hi there, when I first read the suggestion > Let's Make Music Studio < I thought, that's a really good idea. Straight to the point.
-> here are some suggestions for a new name: 1. LiMMitS - contains the old name ... There is no limit ... maybe instead of LiMMitS, better call it No LiMMitS + it isn't just for linux anymore + it isn't called LMMS anymore + hopefully there are no more limits in music production + because of being open source there are no limits in development - sounds too much like the 2 Unlimited title "No Limits" (although it wasn't that bad and you can do a cover) just think about a conversation: Peter: hey, nice tune. how did you do it? Paul: I just use "No LiMMitS"! 2. "M": (for Music) - do you know about the game "N" ? - short name, easy to remember - says everything;) "M" (pronounced like "em" or "mmh") + really short name, maybe too short to google it - MM is for musicmaker I think (c) by magix conversation: Peter: can you recommend a good music-sequencer Paul: yeah, I know a good one, it's called "M"... (em or mmh) 3. T.O.M.: - The Open(source) Music(studio) instead of calling it T.O.M, maybe call it T.O.M.s PROject + Totally Open Musicstudio Project + contains the word pro;) conversation: Peter: do you know about that new software sequencer? Paul: do you mean T.O.M.s Project? 4. JAMeS: (Just Another Music Sequencer) - there, for your service - for another jam (could be a problem with articulation: James like aims, or Jam like slam, bam) conversation: Peter: hey, nice tune, how did you produce it? Paul: it was a collaboration. I did it together with JAMes. 5. (just)ART: + contains the word start + art starts with "A" , maybe good for search engines and sequencer lists + art is always good;) + art is a matter of opinion - justART sounds like bastard 6. D-sign: + the programm is in constantly design and development + you can design beats, melodies and songs with it it's a sign that something is on its way sign up to the community I think it's easy to design a logo for this one - a big D and than a small sign or something like that 7. AllmOSt: (the perfect music sequencer;) + contains all and OS + maybe m for music and t for technology + almost everything you need + development is almost ready and stable;) + almost perfect:) - pronunciation, - does not sound that good 8. Playground, or MP for Music Playground + contains the word play + rhymes with sound + playground offers lot's of fun and many possibilities + MP - quick like a shot - MP sounds too much like MPC (Akai) but that can also be a "+" 9. 2B (pronounced like Toby, or ToBe) (to build) + to build or not to build + bb = building blocks + beats & basslines + tribute to the founder and main developer (Toby) + pattern oriented sequencer + short name, comes always at first in a list because it starts with a number - there is already a midi music sequencer called "building blocks" btw like someone already wrote > elements < is also a cool idea for the name. You build a song with different elements (paino roll, pattern editor, instruments, samples, ...)
