Hi,
Thanks, Robert, for the link from yesterday to this video tutorial
collection about MusE and Ardour. I watched the first video so far, and
this encouraged me to implement Carla and Drumgizmo for the use within
MusE.
So I compiled and installed Carla 2.0 beta 4 and Drumgizmo 0.9.10 on my
system, which is a Ubuntu Studio system (Ubuntu 14.04.4). I had
downloaded Carla from
http://kxstudio.linuxaudio.org/Applications:Carla
, i.e. the 32 bit Linux archive, which is one of the "pre-compiled"
archives, but in fact they are not pre-compiled.
But having complied and installed Carla I discovered that the native GUI
of Carla is not displayed in MusE when I right-click the Carla Patchbay
track in my song.
Instead, an empty, grey window with the name "Carla-Patchbay-0:Carla-
Patchbay" is displayed in MusE.
Before I compiled Carla, I applied the command "make features". This
command tells you which dependencies are installed on your system, and
which not. This is the result of this command:
--- Quote Beginning ---
jrad@music:~/Schreibtisch/installationsdateien/carla_2.0beta4/Carla-
master$ make features
---> Main features
Front-End: YES (Using Qt5)
LV2 plugin: YES

---> File formats:

ZynAddSubFX: NO [fftw3, mxml or zlib missing]
jrad@music:~/Schreibtisch/installationsdateien/carla_2.0beta4/Carla-
master
--- Quote End ---
Please note above the line
"Front-End: YES (Using Qt5)"
- the dependency for displaying the GUI of Carla via QT5 is fullfilled on
my system.
When I try to start Carla from the console, then this happens:
--- Quote Beginning ---
jrad@music:/usr/local/bin$ ./carla
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/local/share/carla/carla", line 22, in <module>
from carla_host import *
File "/usr/local/share/carla/carla_host.py", line 39, in <module>
import patchcanvas
File "/usr/local/share/carla/patchcanvas.py", line 32, in <module>
from PyQt5.QtSvg import QGraphicsSvgItem, QSvgRenderer
ImportError: No module named 'PyQt5.QtSvg'
jrad@music:/usr/local/bin$
--- Quote End ---
Is the 2nd last line in this quote the reason for this behaviour? I have
the packages pyqt5-dev and pyqt5-dev-tools installed on my system. These
packages were installed on my system before I compiled Carla.
Regards,
Jens
