This isn't quite right. On my 5s running IOS 10.3 if I switch airplane mode on I don't have access to dictation. This would seem to indicate that at least on that device dictation needs an internet connection. Maybe other devices are different.

Sorry to contradict, but as of iOS 9.3, dictation is now on board the device,
so Internet connectivity is no longer required.

Dictation should work like it will in any other app. For dictation to work
anywhere you'll need an internet connection, something that just doesn't seem
to get mentioned anywhere.
The closest function to exploration mode is the show neighbourhood function.
This will give you a point list of points within a radius around your location
or a chosen point. This is the same kind of list you get with the find point
function. To check a point in this list just double tap it and it'll say
checked and may prompt you where to save the checkpoint.
An exploration mode is planned, it's just a matter of figuring out the best
user interface for it.
You can import the old-style checkpoints text files, see the new faq at:
https://www.loadstone-gps.com/help/faq.html for instructions.

I have tried to get Loadstone to find points by dictating the name of
the point. Loadstone does not seem to search if point names are
dictated. If that is the only thing that could stand fixing, that is
very good for a first release. I can certainly use Loadstone without
dictation working properly.

I think I like the Loadstone's battery usage compared to other GPS
programs. Loadstone seems to use less of my phone's battery if I am
not mistaken.

Next, is there something like exploration mode? There does not seem
to be anything like that. That feature was great for creating short
checkpoint lists.

How do I create a checkpoint list in the current version of Loadstone?
I believe I would use find point and go from there. Is there an
alternative method?

Finally, can I import my old checkpoint text files? If so, how can I
do that? I don't know how to convert text files to the required
Loadstone format.

Thank You,
