To determine the distance between Paris and Berlin as you suggest the show
neighbourhood function probably wouldn't be the right function for the job.
The show neighbourhood function is used to see an area around the current
location or a given point. The distance between Paris and Berlin is over 800
kilometres (I just asked Siri, it does very well for a task like this).
Expanding the neighbourhood radius to cover this distance would incompass
thousands, maybe hundreds of thousands of points depending on how much data
you had loaded. All this would have to be loaded in to memory and then
displayed. You'd probably be paging through the results for hours to find
the one you want presuming such a result set would even fit in memory.
A better function for this purpose would be the find point function. You'd
have to increase your search radius to cover the needed distance. This would
all depend on the data you have loaded. Such a large search radius may also
result in slower searches.
