The LoCo teams gathered yesterday for a first meeting to gather points of disscussion in subsequent meetings. There is great potential of sharing experiences in these meeting. Some concerns were raised with regards attendance to the meetings but if there is a clear outlne for the discussion to take place and the proper promotion effort from all. It can actualy be achieved.
Some example discussions: * loco-wide projects such as the docs day, open week, loco week (which was discussed at UDS) * the loco council, reports and feedback. * best practice discussions around organizing events. * Specific topics with specific teams, which could help spread the best practice. A few concerns were brought up in the first meeting: * How to integrate a team to the world wide community: This question boils down to the participation that teams has in loco-wide events, and sharing local events news and pictures. this is something very simple but once done regularly it becomes a tradition in the local team to share with the world wide community. * Sharing the Ubuntu Spirit: LoCo teams tend to hold events all around the world, in very different ways. knowing about these events definetely empowers and sparks other teams to march forward and keep on working towards achieving our goals. Teams usually share their happenings with other LoCo teams in various ways, via email in the loco-contacts mailing list. Planet Ubuntu, Ubuntu-news (Ubuntu Weekly Newsletter and/or Fridge) and of course their respective websites. at UDS there was discussion about trying to promote news in a matter that archives can be kept for further reference and that photo streams are shared with a common tag, this offers an instant glance at the awesomeness of the moment. The way we are doing this now is mostly through planet and unfortunately content is easily lost after sindication is gone. it is very difficult to find the work of teams for lets say 3 years on. Ubuntu Weekly Newsletter is also a sharing point for LoCo teams however more contributions with email news submissions could definetely help have more content archived. and we can probably look back at the 3 years of LoCo teams with more pride. Actions from this meeting: * Encourage all LoCo Teams to share their items for discussion for next meeting https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LoCoTeamMeeting * Promote these meetings in blogs, mailing lists, Microblogging (identi.ca, tweeter), the more people the more nutured the discussion. * look into improving how loco teams can get content on the fridge. assigned to effie_jayx.
