There is a separate bug about reusing external contact addresses. Launchpad organisational-modelling teams don't need an external address, and generally operate much better when they don't have one because Launchpad can avoid double-notifications, honour user preferences and so forth.

This has a knock on effect with loco teams and the loco directory, when we want to contact a team contact it's not pulling that in from LP as it most cases it's empty.
