After having some syslog messages mysteriously vanishing, it was finally
determined they were dropped in an over-worked switch during peak time.
TCP would have caught those packets being dropped, and it seems many remote
syslog servers support TCP nowadays.
It would be great if the log4j SyslogAppender supported TCP as well as UDP.
