I wonder if providing an implementation of
{{org.apache.logging.log4j.message.MessageFactory}} to delay the formatting
until it is needed would work for you?
When I look at {{org.apache.logging.log4j.message.StringFormattedMessage}} it
looks like String.format() is called on demand, not when the message is
created...
