The docs are wrong, it was not updated to the latest version of 
{{org.apache.logging.log4j.web.TestAsyncServlet}} (see git).

Just change {{Log4jWebLifeCycle}} to {{Log4jWebSupport}}:

 final Log4jWebSupport webLifeCycle =     
WebLoggerContextUtils.getWebLifeCycle(TestAsyncServlet.this.getServletContext());
