This may be a case where "perfect is the enemy of good".
We are discussing a fairly academic use case. Most practical use cases are
supported by what's currently implemented.
I would like to keep things simple. If you look at the appenders manual page in
master and check the documentation for this feature you'll see that what you
originally asked for is there. In the interest of keeping things simple I think
it's reasonable to ask users to write a custom condition if the built-in ones
don't satisfy their needs. (That was the original vision for this feature
anyway, I think we kind of lost track of that.)
