As mentioned, this method is supported on PropertyConfigurator and DOMConfigurator.
I will also make a plug for some related extensions I have proposed for log4j that allow for more flexibility and source types than the current configureAndWatch() implementation. The extensions are stand alone and extend the current functionality of log4j.
