Yes, but that's true of a lot of other .jar files as well, and they're
working fine.

I haven't been able to find any kind of WL database on the BEA site;
even their "dev2dev" section is a touch heavy on marketing glurge.
(Though I did cross-post my previous message to an appropriate BEA
newsgroup.)  Do you have a particular DB in mind?  And do you have a
URL?

And to rule out a few more things . . .

I'm getting the same behavior in log4j-1.2.3 and log4j-1.2.7.

This isn't related to Weblogic 6 getting confused by additional periods
in a jar file name; shrinking "log4j-1.2.7.jar" to "log4j.jar" has no
effect.
