appender threshold

I notice that the appender Threshold param does not support the class="level class name" property. Why is that? I have a use for it. I bound  a custom Security Level that I created to a Logger and just for safekeeping tried to set the threshold on the appender for that logger to the SecurityLevel as well.  I got a parsing error that complained that I hadn't declared "class" for the Threshold param.
