How I am not sure :) but that what worked for me.

seExceptionSorter</exception-sorter-class-name>
I believe is correct sorter for Sybase.
I had the same problem with oracle and when I added
sorter and
<errorHandler
class="org.jboss.logging.util.OnlyOnceErrorHandler"/>
it
took care of the problem. My appender looks the same
as yours.
