I asked Matt to include a slide like that.  I asked him to mention why I 
started Log4j 2 in the first place - to call out the features that were missing 
in Logback that I couldn’t get included. I think that is a very common question 
that gets asked.  I also wanted him to highlight how long Log4j 2 has actually 
been in development - I spent over a year writing the initial core before I 
committed it to the experimental branch and it has been years in development 
since then - so from a time perspective we are definitely ready for GA.  

But you are absolutely correct that the reason I chose to commit the code at 
Apache was because I believe in the culture and that there should be no single 
individual in charge.  At the time I committed the code the Log4j team was 
almost non-existent and I saw this as a way to get the project going again. 

So IMO, I’d prefer he leave that slide so long as he also talks about these 
other items - or add another slide to address them.
