We used to have an extraordinally simple Windows Service at $work that
didn't do much but using log4net writing to a file and starting the
RemoteLoggingServerPlugin.  Unfortunately I don't think I can share the
code (trivial as it is).

The real applications would then all use RemotingAppenders.

The RemotingAppender tries to flush all message in shutdown but if
things go really bad you may be losing some messages, this is true.
